Dosing Pumps

Dosing Pumps

Controlled Chemical & Enzyme Treatment

In commercial buildings, maintaining drainage systems often requires regular, consistent application of treatment products. Dosing pumps provide a reliable way to deliver small, measured amounts of product into pipework automatically, removing the need for manual dosing.

They are widely used as part of planned drainage maintenance programmes, helping ensure treatments are applied correctly and consistently.

What Is a Dosing Pump?

A dosing pump is a device that delivers controlled quantities of liquid product into a drainage system at set intervals. Once installed and set up, it allows products to be applied automatically, helping maintain effective treatment levels without relying on staff intervention.

Dosing pumps are commonly used with:

  • Enzyme drain maintenance products
  • Grease trap treatments
  • Specialist drainage chemicals
  • Urinal maintenance products

Where Dosing Pumps Are Commonly Installed

Dosing pumps are most frequently installed in commercial kitchens and food preparation areas, where drainage systems are exposed to high levels of grease, fat and oil.

Typical applications include:

  • Grease traps
  • Kitchen drain lines
  • Floor drains
  • Sumps
  • High-use commercial pipework

In these environments, regular dosing helps reduce build-up, control odours and support long-term drainage performance.

Benefits of Using a Dosing Pump

Using a dosing pump as part of a maintenance programme can help:

  • Ensure consistent and accurate product dosing
  • Reduce reliance on manual application
  • Improve long-term treatment effectiveness
  • Support preventative maintenance strategies
  • Reduce the risk of blockages and odours returning

Can Dosing Pumps Be Used Elsewhere?

While dosing pumps are most commonly associated with kitchens and general drainage systems, they can be installed in other areas of a building where regular treatment is required.

For example, dosing pumps may be used to deliver specialist products into urinal systems as part of an ongoing maintenance approach. It is important to note that while the delivery method may be similar, the products used are application-specific.

Urinal systems require dedicated urinal treatments, such as URIC FREEFLO, which are designed to prevent uric scale build-up. Enzyme drain maintenance products are not suitable for urinals.

Advice, Supply & Support from Chemassist

Chemassist can:

  • Supply dosing pumps where required
  • Advise on suitable pump types and configurations
  • Support clients who choose to use their own pumps
  • Ensure the correct product is matched to the application

Because drainage systems and usage patterns vary, we recommend speaking to Chemassist before selecting or installing a dosing pump to ensure the most appropriate setup is used.
